Levels

Members earn XP by chatting and by spending time in voice with others, and climb levels. Levels can hand out roles and coins, and show up on rank cards and leaderboards.

Turning it on

Count XP on this server starts everything: XP, levels, and the message and voice statistics behind /stats. Nothing is counted while it is off, and nothing is lost when you turn it off again.

Where XP comes from

Messages. Each message gives a random amount between Min per message and Max per message (1 and 20 by default), at most once per Cooldown (5 seconds by default). Raising the cooldown is the simplest way to make spam worthless.

Voice. Members get Voice XP per minute while they talk with at least one other person, unmuted. Nothing in the AFK channel, nothing alone. 0 turns voice XP off.

Long messages. With a Bonus for long messages of, say, 200 characters, messages at least that long earn half as much again.

Multipliers

  • Server multiplier: ×2 for a double-XP weekend.
  • Role multipliers: members with these roles earn more (×1.5 for boosters) or less (×0.5).
  • Channel multipliers: a channel, or a whole category, that earns more or less.

When a member has several, Several multipliers decides: Multiply them (×2 and ×1.5 make ×3) or Keep the highest (×2). The server multiplier always applies on top.

XP needed per level

How fast levels get harder. The amount below is the XP needed to go from that level to the next one.

LevelClassicSteadySteep
1100150130
52,500750371
1010,0001,5001,379
2040,0003,00019,005

Classic keeps early levels quick and makes the high ones a real achievement. Steady adds the same step each time. Steep starts gently and then climbs very fast. Changing the curve keeps everyone's current level.

Level-up announcements

  • Where: In a channel (the one under Post it in, or where the member leveled up if empty), In private, or Nowhere.
  • Only every … levels: 5 announces levels 5, 10, 15…
  • Only when a role is won: stay quiet unless the level comes with a reward.

The Message accepts {member:mention}, {member:name}, {member:tag}, {member:id}, {level}, {server} and {count} (member count).

Level rewards

Each reward is a level with a Role, coins, or both. Coins land in the member's wallet once, the first time they reach the level (Economy).

Keep earlier rewards decides what happens to roles on the way up. On, a level-20 member has the level-5, 10 and 20 roles. Off, they only keep the role of their highest level. Naeris's role must be above the reward roles.

Changing a member's level from the dashboard or with /levelup xp gives or takes the rewards to match.

Rank cards and leaderboards

/rank draws a member's card: level, XP, progress and rank. Set a Background image URL (1000 × 300 px looks best) and an Accent colour for the level and the lit progress segments: the dashboard shows your own card as you change them.

/leaderboard ranks members by XP, invites, reputation or coins. Two more ways to show it:

  • Public leaderboard page: the top 100, on a page anyone can open without logging in, at dashboard.naerisbot.fr/leaderboard/<server ID>. Members who left aren't shown. Open the page on the dashboard takes you there.
  • Live leaderboard channel: Naeris keeps a top 10 in that channel, updated every 10 minutes.

Reset XP when a member leaves wipes the XP of anyone who leaves the server, so leaving and coming back starts from zero.

Drops

Now and then a prize shows up under a message: the first member to click it wins the XP in a drop and the Coins in a drop. One message in… sets how rare drops are (on average), with at least 2 minutes between two of them. Limit them to some channels with Only in these channels.

Coming from MEE6

Import the levels copies the levels of MEE6's leaderboard for this server, with each member's progress inside their level. MEE6's leaderboard has to be public (it is by default). The import replaces the levels members already had on Naeris, so run it before people start earning XP here.

Editing a member

On the dashboard, open the member in Members: Set level, Add XP or Reset. /levelup xp give, take, setlevel and reset do the same from Discord.
