Permissions
Understand what permissions Naeris requires and why they are necessary for specific modules to function.
Naeris requires several Discord permissions to operate correctly. While some are fundamental, others are only needed for specific modules like Tickets or Giveaways.
🛡️ Core Permissions
These permissions are generally required for the bot to function at a basic level in any channel.
| Permission | Usage |
|---|---|
| View Channel | Allows the bot to read messages and see channels. |
| Send Messages | Necessary for the bot to respond to commands and send logs. |
| Embed Links | Most bot responses use Discord Embeds for a better visual experience. |
| Read Message History | Needed for the bot to process context and legacy prefix commands. |
| Use Slash Commands | Essential for interaction with our modern command system. |
📦 Module Specific Permissions
Some modules require elevated permissions to perform their tasks.
Moderation
- Kick Members: To execute the
/kickcommand. - Ban Members: To execute the
/banand/softbancommands. - Moderate Members: Required to use the
/timeoutcommand. - Manage Messages: Necessary for the
/purgecommand and AutoMod to delete content.
Music
- Connect: To join your voice channels.
- Speak: To stream audio in the voice channels.
Tickets
- Manage Channels: Necessary to create and delete private ticket channels.
- Manage Roles: Used to set permission overwrites on ticket channels.
⚠️ The Administrator Permission
During the invite process, Naeris might request the Administrator permission.
- Why?: This is the simplest way to ensure all modules (especially Tickets and Moderation) work without manual permission tweaking.
- Privacy: Naeris only uses these permissions to execute the commands you or your staff trigger. We do not peek at your private data.
If you prefer not to grant Administrator, you can manually enable specific permissions per channel. However, ensure the bot always has View Channel and Send Messages in every channel you want it to work in.
