Set it up in 10 minutes
From an empty server to the basics: a mod-log, automod, a welcome message and logs. You need the Manage Server permission on the server.
Add Naeris
Open the invite link, pick your server and confirm.
The invite asks for the Administrator permission, which is the simplest: everything works. If you'd rather give only what's needed, uncheck it; Permissions lists what each module uses.
Move its role up
This is the step people forget. A bot can only give roles, and sanction members, that are below its own highest role. Open Server Settings › Roles and drag the Naeris role above the roles it should hand out (reaction roles, level rewards, role on join) and above the members it should moderate. Keep your admin roles above it.
The dashboard's overview warns you when Naeris can't manage roles.
Pick the language
Naeris speaks English by default. For French, type /language and pick Français, or change Bot language on the dashboard's General page. The descriptions of slash commands follow each member's own Discord language anyway.
Open the dashboard
Go to dashboard.naerisbot.fr and log in with Discord. Your servers are listed: the ones where you have Manage Server, marked Ready when Naeris is there. Open yours.
The Overview has a Setup list with the seven things most servers set up first. Each one links to its page and ticks itself once done. Two have a one-click start: Turn on the basics for automod (invites, scam links, spam, mass mentions) and Create the channels for logs.
The first four settings
- Mod-log (Moderation page): a staff-only channel where every sanction is posted. Do this first, the other modules use it.
- Automod: turn on Remove invites to other servers, Scam links and Mentions per message (5 is a good value). Add the words your community doesn't want. That alone stops most spam.
- Welcome & goodbye: pick a channel, write a line with
{member}in it, click Send a test. - Logs: click Create the channels for me. Naeris makes a hidden category with a channel per log.
Each page saves with the bar that shows up at the bottom when something changed.
Check that it works
Type /ping in a channel: Naeris answers with its latency. /help lists the commands.
If nothing happens, Naeris can't see or write in that channel: check the channel's permissions for the Naeris role. More in the FAQ.
